Grace De Laguna received her AB from Cornell in 1903 and her Ph.D from the same instution in 1906. A philosopher, she joined the Bryn Mawr faculty in 1907 with her husband, Theodore de Laguna, later becoming the department chair. She is the mother of renowned anthropologist Federica de Laguna.
